Understanding The Market
What is The Market?
The Market is a marketplace between individuals. A member lists a card for sale, another member buys it. mintcards.ch is not the seller: we host the listing, we moderate it, and we record the purchase. The card belongs to the seller and is sold directly between him and the buyer.
Who sells and who buys?
Two individuals. Both the buyer and seller are members with a customer account on mintcards.ch. You must be logged in to sell as well as to buy: there is no guest purchasing.
How is it different from the rest of the shop?
The Market cards are not part of our stock and do not appear in the normal catalog. They are not purchased via the regular shopping cart: payment and shipping take place directly between buyer and seller, outside our platform.
Buying on The Market
How does a purchase work?
According to the listing, three options are possible:
- Fixed price: you buy immediately at the displayed price.
- Fixed price with offer: you can buy at the displayed price or make an offer to the seller, who accepts or refuses it. An offer lower than 60% of the displayed price is automatically refused.
- Auction: you place a bid. You can indicate a maximum amount, and the system will bid for you up to that limit. Some auctions offer an immediate purchase option to secure the card right away, as long as the bids have not reached that price.
What happens once I have bought?
As soon as the purchase is recorded on the site, the seller's payment details are communicated to you. You then pay the seller directly, according to the method he indicated, and he ships the card to you. mintcards.ch does not intervene in either payment or shipping.
Why do I need to be connected to see the seller's contact details?
The seller's payment details are never displayed on the open listing. They are only unlocked after purchase, for the buyer. This is what allows us to record the sale and know that a transaction has taken place.
Are there any fees for the buyer?
No. The buyer pays the card price and, if applicable, the shipping fees indicated in the listing (0 means free shipping). No commission is charged to the buyer.
Is the stated condition guaranteed?
The displayed condition (a rating from 1 to 10) is an estimate made by the seller himself, under his sole responsibility. It is not an appraisal from mintcards.ch. Look carefully at the actual photo and description, and feel free to consider this rating as the seller's opinion on his own card.
Am I protected by mintcards.ch in case of problems?
No, the transaction takes place directly between two individuals: there is neither escrow nor platform guarantee. Our role is to moderate listings on entry and to be able to suspend problematic sellers. If a transaction goes wrong, you can report it during the return window and rate the seller.
Selling on Le Market
How do I put a card up for sale?
Log in, then use the Sell a card button. You provide the title, description, card type, card condition, an actual photo, the sale format (fixed price, offer, auction), price and shipping fees, as well as your payment details. The listing then goes into moderation.
Why is an actual photo mandatory?
To protect buyers, each listing must show an actual photo of the card, not an image found on the internet. Listings without an actual photo are rejected during moderation.
How do I indicate the card's condition?
You assess your card's condition yourself on a scale of 1 to 10 (1 = poor condition, 10 = perfect, like new). This rating is your own assessment and is your responsibility: it commits the seller, not mintcards.ch. Be honest and precise, the description and photo must match the stated rating.
What is the seller username?
Your username is the public name displayed on your listings. Your real name is never shown to other members. You choose your username from your My listings area; it is locked from your first published listing, to remain a stable reference for buyers. To change it later, contact us.
How much does it cost to sell?
Nothing to publish. A commission is only due in case of an actual sale. It is 6% of the sale price, with a minimum of 0.50 CHF and a maximum of 250 CHF. It applies to the price actually paid (fixed price, accepted offer or hammer price of the auction), never to shipping fees.
A few examples: a card sold for 50 CHF generates 3 CHF in commission; a card sold for 8 CHF generates 0.50 CHF (the minimum); a card sold for 5000 CHF generates 250 CHF (the maximum).
When and how do I pay the commission?
After the sale, a return window allows the buyer to rate or report a problem. If everything went well, the commission becomes due and you receive a payment link. You pay it by card or TWINT, or by QR invoice. If the sale falls through, the commission can be cancelled and you are not billed.
What happens if I don't pay my commissions?
Your accumulated commission balance is building up. Beyond a certain unpaid threshold, posting new listings is blocked until settlement.
Can I modify or cancel my listing?
Yes, as long as no bids or offers have been received. A modified listing goes back into moderation. Once the first bid or offer is received, the listing is locked and can no longer be modified or cancelled.

How does the seller rating system work?
After each transaction, the buyer rates the seller from 1 to 5, without comment. Only an aggregated average is displayed publicly, and only after 3 rated sales. Below that, the listing shows Not enough reviews yet, to avoid judging a seller on a single voice.
How do I report a problem?
During the return window following a purchase, the buyer can report an issue (non-compliant card, not shipped, etc.). We examine sellers who accumulate problems and can suspend them. The decision always remains human, never automatic.
