Nine Blissful Eternity boosters, a promo card and a sleeve pack found in no other product. The set marking 25 years of Final Fantasy X.
A pre-release kit normally has a short shelf life: you open it the week before the set drops, you get a look at the cards, and you move on. This one still has a reason to exist afterwards, and it comes down to two items.
What the kit holds
Nine Blissful Eternity boosters. One pre-release exclusive promo card. One pre-release exclusive sleeve pack.
Those last two are distributed in no other product in the range: not in displays, not in boosters sold singly. That is what separates this kit from a plain bundle of nine boosters, and it is what still makes it worth buying today.
Each booster holds 12 cards, including at least one guaranteed premium card.
The set: Tidus and 25 years of Final Fantasy X
Blissful Eternity is the twenty-ninth opus of the game, and Square Enix built it around Tidus. Final Fantasy X shipped in 2001: the set marks its twenty-fifth anniversary.
It brings 36 new illustrations, drawn mainly from Final Fantasy X, Final Fantasy V, Final Fantasy XI and Stranger of Paradise Final Fantasy Origin.
Noir cards, the set's new addition
This is the one collectors were waiting for. Noir cards lay a few accent colours over a monochrome base, in full art, and carry a printed signature. They are not foil-stamped, and that is exactly the intent: a stripped-back, strongly graphic look that breaks from the glossy treatments the game usually reaches for.
The Noir card for this set is Cloud [11-127L].
Sephiroth by Tetsuya Nomura
The set's Special card is Sephiroth [29-087L], illustrated by Tetsuya Nomura and carrying his foil-stamped signature. It is the piece everyone is after, and the reason boosters from this opus get opened with rather more care than usual.
Legacy cards, those powerful cards from earlier sets reissued as premium full-art printings, remain part of the line-up.
One change worth knowing
From this set onwards, Square Enix no longer includes Crystal cards with standard products. Do not go looking for them in these boosters: they are gone. We would rather flag it than let a player used to earlier sets open nine boosters wondering what is missing.
Kit or display?
The arithmetic is simple and we are not hiding it. Per booster, the kit costs more than the display. What the difference buys you is not extra cards: it is the promo card and the sleeve pack, unavailable anywhere else.
If you want volume, buy a display. If you want those two exclusives, this kit is the only route.
